How to choose

Pick a chart app if you need depths: Navionics and Aqua Map are the most direct swaps, TZ iBoat and iNavX suit boaters who connect instruments, Savvy Navvy suits sailors planning on tides. If charts are not what you open the app for, Scirocco covers forecast, navigation to your marks and the boat itself.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to C-MAP?

TZ iBoat keeps core features free, iNavX includes NOAA charts for US waters, and Scirocco is free for the forecast, compass, navigation, tracks and up to 20 waypoints. Most chart apps charge for offline charts.

C-MAP or Navionics?

Both sell charts with bathymetry and offer automatic routing. C-MAP has a free chart viewer with Premium for offline and AIS; Navionics charges a yearly subscription by region after a free period ($59.99 for the Mediterranean on the US App Store).

Can I export my C-MAP waypoints?

Yes, C-MAP exports routes, tracks and waypoints as GPX, which the other apps on this page can open.

Which C-MAP alternative has AIS?

Navionics (with a Wi-Fi AIS receiver), Aqua Map Expert, TZ iBoat, Savvy Navvy and iNavX all list AIS. Scirocco does not have AIS.

The only boating app you need
