About Scirocco
Scirocco is a boating app for iPhone that brings together a marine forecast, waypoints, an onboard compass, GPS tracks and complete boat management — engines, maintenance, documents and insurance — for recreational boaters, sailors and sport fishers heading out on the Mediterranean.
What Scirocco does
Waypoints
Save fishing spots, anchorages and dive sites by tapping the map, pasting coordinates, importing marks from your fishfinder (Garmin, Lowrance, Simrad, Humminbird, Raymarine) or from GPX, KML and CSV files, or scanning a photo. Folders and favourites keep them organised, so you find a spot again in seconds.
Onboard compass and navigation
The compass shows heading, distance, speed in knots and arrival time to the chosen waypoint. It tells you in words how to correct your course, and vibration at 200, 100 and 50 metres from arrival lets you know you are almost there.
GPS tracks
Record your trips in the background with an interval from 1 to 30 seconds. Every track shows distance, duration, average and top speed, and exports to GPX.
Boats and engines
Add one or more boats with specs and photo, and for each engine the make, power, fuel figures and running hours. When you log a job with higher hours, the engine counter updates itself.
Scheduled maintenance
Log completed jobs with date, engine hours and notes, and schedule future ones. A notification reminds you when a job is coming up.
Documents and insurance
Keep your registration, safety certificate, engine power declaration and other papers as photos or PDFs. Insurance policies have expiry dates and attachments, with a reminder before they run out.
Marine forecast
Wind, gusts, waves and rain for 7 days, hour by hour, where you are or wherever you search, plus the tide for the next 24 hours, swell, current and water temperature. Comparing several models tells you how much to trust the forecast. It's free.
Personal documents
Boating license, fishing license, diving card, medical certificate, ID card and passport, scanned or photographed, with a reminder before they expire. Free and unlimited.
Fuel and range
With 105 preconfigured engines, tank capacity, fuel level and price per litre, Scirocco estimates consumption, cost and range. While navigating, an alarm warns you if your range gets too short.
Sync and backup
With Scirocco Pro, waypoints, tracks and boats sync through iCloud across all your Apple devices. The full boat record exports to a .scirocco file you can import on another device.
Guides and tools on the website
scirocco.app publishes practical guides on navigation, marine forecasts, tides and boating safety. The Italian section adds sailing distances between Italian ports, pages for 60 ports and marine weather for 154 places with wind, waves and tides up to 14 days.

Works offline
Scirocco uses your phone's GPS and needs no signal to guide you to a waypoint or record a track. Coverage often drops at sea: the app is built for exactly that moment.
No account, no ads
There is nothing to sign up for and no banners in the app. Waypoints, tracks and boat records stay on your device and, with Pro, travel only through your private iCloud.
Coordinates in any format
It reads decimal degrees, degrees and minutes, thousandth minutes, degrees minutes seconds with and without symbols, NMEA and Google Maps or Apple Maps links. Paste a WhatsApp message or scan a screenshot and the coordinates are extracted for you.
Navigation and boat in one app
Navionics and Aqua Map are nautical charting apps; Scirocco takes care of everything around the chart. Route and tracks live next to engines, 105 fuel profiles from 10 makers, maintenance, documents, policies and a marine forecast.

The free version includes up to 20 waypoints and unlimited navigation: compass, route, trip recording, statistics and GPX export. The subscription unlocks unlimited waypoints, boat management and iCloud sync.
Made for the Mediterranean
While navigating it shows the wind's traditional name in real time: Tramontana, Scirocco, Mistral and the rest. The app speaks seven languages: Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Croatian and Greek.

Who is behind Scirocco
Scirocco was designed and built in Naples, Italy, by Simone Ruggiero, an iOS developer and boater. It started from a practical need: one app for fishing spots and anchorages, a compass that takes you there and all the boat's paperwork, instead of scattered notes, photos and reminders.
It is an independent project: design, development and support are handled directly by Simone. Suggestions from users who write to support go into the next versions of the app.

Download Scirocco from the App Store, add your boat or your first waypoint and head out: the compass guides you to your destination. No account needed.
After you buy Scirocco Pro
The subscription runs through your Apple Account: the weekly plan starts with a 3-day free trial, the yearly plan with a 7-day one. It renews automatically, you cancel it from iPhone Settings → Subscriptions and it stays active until the end of the period already paid; on a new phone, "Restore purchases" brings it back.

Does Scirocco work without a connection?
Yes. Navigating to waypoints and recording tracks use your phone's GPS and need no signal. The last downloaded forecast stays available too; the map needs a connection.
